Sabbatical Leave Proposal
Abstract
The focus of my sabbatical leave will be the study of medieval traditions in northern Europe and their influence on precolonial and colonial settlements in North America. Increased and improved research efforts and techniques have provided extensive amounts of new information and have affirmed that many aspects of the New World settlements and colonies reflect Old World cultural traditions. The sabbatical leave will allow me the opportunity to study the most recent materials, concepts, and hypotheses, as well as information concerning the latest methods of excavation, data collection, and analysis. Much of this will be integrated into at least 5 of the courses that I teach for Parkland College.
