Description
During spring break, 2016, the author, a student of Parkland College, Champaign, IL, traveled to her hometown, Cadereyta, Neuvo, Leon, Mexico, where she interviewed a school social worker to discuss the impact economic and cultural factors have on educational success. The visit, in addition to reflection on her personal struggles growing up disadvantaged in the United States, have reinforced her commitment to becoming a social worker and returning to Mexico.
