The Anthropology and Sociology Programs at Parkland College are participants in a pilot project to improve the pedagogical materials offered in their core courses regarding global issues, drawing from scholarship on Western Europe, as well as Russia, Eastern Europe and Eurasia. The three courses chosen for this project, Anthropology 101 and 103, and Sociology 101, were taught online during Summer Session II, and ran from June 19 to July 28, 2017, with a duration of six weeks. Courses were capped at 25 students.
This project is funded by the Center for Global Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Funds were used to purchase new course materials, facilitated by the Parkland College Library, and to provide two professional development workshops supported by the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
