Abstract
This personal essay offers a vivid recounting of childhood classroom humiliation, not only by snickering classmates, but by a teacher who lacks patience, understanding of learning disabilities, and a sense of heart for a struggling student. The author, Ashlynd Norvask, also expresses her appreciation for her grandfather, the person who patiently worked with her to set her on a path toward developing -- as evidenced by this clearly written piece -- strong literacy skills.
