Abstract

"Aurora season" has just begun, but that doesn't guarantee everyone can see them.

The northern lights are the aurora borealis, and the southern hemisphere has the aurora australis. There is an auroral oval circling each pole of Earth, moving roughly over the Arctic and Antarctic Circles most of the time. Since most people live in the northern hemisphere, the northern lights are more well-known.
