Abstract
Polycarbonate is one of the most important polymers being used today. Polycarbonate has many important characteristics that prove to be useful in its applications. Some characteristics of polycarbonate are that it is clear, light weight, and durable. The optical properties and the specific weight index of polycarbonate make it ideal for lens material in eyeglasses. There are two main ways of commercially synthesizing polycarbonate from bisphenol A. It can be synthesized through the process of solvent interfacial polymerization or through melt transeterification. Both processes are different and each has its own benefits.
